The Muse Villa – Goa

The Muse Villa – Goa

The client approached us with this home that was half built in the thriving locality of Assagao in Goa about a year ago and wanted us to take over and give it some soul.

The bones of the ceiling were beautiful with the natural wood rafters, although imperfectly done with multiple supports and clashing beams. We chose to use that as our ‘Wabi sabi’ and see where we can merge the spaces into feeling like a more polished space has emerged out of a semi rustic space! A ‘coming of age’ if you must!!

The central area at the entrance was turned into a courtyard with a gorgeous sloped roof glass ceiling above it. From it springs our jack and the beanstalk inspired tree from Oorja that merges lantana bamboo and natural fibers to create a gorgeous installation. More banana fiber lights that were turned into di􀆯erent heights and angles of floor and wall lamps were added to dramatize the effect of this one large tree!

The rest of the space is an open plan that leads toward a living and dining area with a very large floor level bed style seating draped beautifully in sheer blinds, a new extension that looks like it’s almost hanging over the pool. A live edge stained dining table sits next to these random looking open shelves by Vakr to match the center table at the living area and tie in a unique design element. The abacus from Leidenschaft is a center piece that allows for interaction and wonder at the rustic luxury combination. An open kitchen follows through with a  multifunctional service bar in between that opens out towards the pool deck as well.

The pool itself was more of a lounging style pool to just soak in. So we decided to add fiber glass rocks to make the otherwise mundane looking pool more interesting and allow for private pockets and a natural hot water springs inspired water body!

One bedroom on the ground and 3 bedrooms upstairs with a small library and study area take you around the home with similar color schemes but different in design.

The client being a fashion stylist herself, you will see a lot of references in the art and the accessories to fashion from the fabric scrolls in the master bedroom from the Flame store, goa to the vintage crocodile leather bag from Ranji, goa.

Every piece of furniture has been carefully chosen to fit into this scheme and not scream a separate story!

Every piece of art and accessory we have made sure to stay true to Goa and sourced ONLY in goa! Right from the books to the ceramic pieces from Thomas pottery or the many cushions and fabrics from Rangeela and the gorgeous wooden mannequin from Savio Jon, a fashion designer in goa who we had to coax into selling us some of his collectibles.

A refreshing new take on a holiday home.
